Ski Patrol

The Otsego Ski Patrol is comprised of 34 members of Otsego Club, all of whom have completed extensive training programs and have been certified in both Outdoor Emergency Care and in skiing skills outlined by the National Ski Patrol System. With an average of over 20 years of patrol service, the Otsego Ski Patrol Members have demonstrated an extraordinary level of experience and dedication. The primary goal of the Ski Patrol is to assist in the development of skiing safety and to provide first-aid care in the event of an accident or illness.

photo of ski patrol hutTo become a Patroller requires a minimum of 160 hours of Outdoor Emergency Care and CPR. This is followed by three testing levels to pass (1. Candidate, 2. Basic Patroller, 3. Senior Patroller). Finally, a national appointment is given, but only after a number of years of dedicated service and commitment. It takes approximately two years to become a patroller with a minimum investment of $1,350.
